Howells, closing with an eleven-line poem, One of two; 19 March 1866, about the delay of his latest book, with news of Howells, asking for news of Stedman; 18 April 1866, asking about a copy of the book The Old Sergeant, will write the author if necessary, commenting on Matthew Arnold's work, and expressing concern over his latest book, as the publisher is "burnt out."
